Arabic Lecture Notes Online
On the Urdu Blog Weekly!
I’ve decided to post Arabic class notes on my Urdu Blog on a weekly basis. So, if you like, you can join us in learning Arabic (reading, writing, and speaking in an effort to understand Islam better by understanding the Quraan and Hadith and Tafseer). Join us every week as we learn Arabic: post your questions as comments. I am thinking of recording audio files for pronunciation purposes and making them available online as well. So if you have any ideas around how to do that efficiently, please share them so we can make learning Arabic a truly rewarding experience.

Mass Protest in UK Against ‘Bombers’ Blair and Bush
Voice your protest against an unnecessary war
Waving anti-war banners and chanting slogans against “Bomber Bush and Bomber Blair,” tens of thousands of Britons flocked to a vast peace rally in London on Saturday to oppose a possible military strike on Iraq. Can you imagine what Bush and Blair are planning? They are planning on killing countless innocent people based on a speculation that Iraq may have a tiny fraction of the chemical/biological weapons that they themselves have. The US and the UK clearly have weapons of mass destruction. What makes it OK for them to have it while others can’t have it, even if they do have it? What’s more? Bush and Blair are trying to gather support of other countries to wage war against a small country. Its utterly riddiculous.

Interesting items in the news
Weird oddities…
I have come accross some interesting items in the news that I thought were worth blogging about. Some of these are not current news items…I store items that I want to blog about and when I get the time, I blog them (usually on the weekends).
Artist rendition of the “AZ Island” project designed by French architect Jean-Philippe Zoppini and made available Thursday Sept. 26, 2002. The 400 meter (1320 feet) long and 300 meter (990 feet) large vessel could host 4,000 cabins on 15 storeys, its own port and facilities to be like a moving city on the sea. No price was available for the project but a model could be presented at the Sea Trade exhibition of Miami in March 2003.
An unidentified man holds a unique synergy of digital photography and nostalgia, which is presented by the German Minox company in form of a miniaturized Leica M3 classic camera of the fifties with digital interior at the photokina fair in Cologne, western Germany, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002. The camera has a 1.3 Megapixel chip and can store some 99 images on a 32 Megabyte flash memory and shall cost 299 Euro (US$ 292). It weights 95 gramms and can transfer its images to a computer by USB link cable. 1.546 companies from 46 countries will present their newest developments of photo and video technology at the fair from Sept. 25, until Sept. 30, 2002.
Warner Bros. has confirmed it’s developing Superman vs. Batman, a film that could not only launch a new superhero franchise for the studio but also will cinematically answer one of the great bar bets of all time: Who would win a fight between the Caped Crusader and the Man of Steel? The movie will follow Superman and Batman as they join forces to battle as-yet-to-be determined villains. Along the way, however, the two A-list superheroes wind up butting heads over their varying approaches to crimefighting. Per the studio, the film, currently known simply as Superman, “is a re-imagining of the Superman legend.” (Still, we imagine the blue tights and red cape will stay.)
A German television network said on Thursday it had made a scientific study of 450 photographs of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and concluded there are at least three doubles posing as the Iraqi president. ZDF said it was difficult to tell which were the doubles and which was the real Saddam Hussein. ZDF said in a news report and statement on its Web site ( www.heute.t-online.de) ahead of the broadcast of its findings later on Thursday that “a scientific investigation proved that the 65-year-old ruler allows at least three doubles to replace him at official appearances.”
