War. It sounds like its just another word. Living in a peaceful area and never having witnessed any wars (alhamdulillah) we seldom give it a second thought. Yeah there is talk of war on Iraq. Yeah Saddam is a bad guy. Yeah biological, chemical, newkiller – Bush’s version of nuclear – weapons are nasty and dangerous…I doubt that Iraq even has a fraction of the amount of weapons of mass destruction that some of the other countries have…UN hasn’t found anything substantial…and yet the US is sending more troops to the middle east to prepare for war (link). Is it so hard to see that Dubya is determined to go to war regardless of whether there is a reason for it or not.
My dear sister Al-Muhajabah posted a link to The Unseen Gulf War by Peter Turnley, a photo journalist. You have got to see it to believe it (it’s shockingly brutal, be careful).
Saturday, February 15th will be a world-wide day of action against the Bush Administration’s proposed war on Iraq. Protests are already being planned in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Athens, Bangkok, Barcelona, Belfast, Berlin, Berne, Brussels, Cairo, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, Helsinki, Istanbul, Jakarta, London, Manila, Oslo, Paris, Ramallah, Rome, San Francisco, Skopje, Stockholm, Tallinn, Tokyo, Vienna, and Warsaw.

Are you sure you’re not color-blind? Turn up the speakers and check your hearing as well.
