I don’t know why

Comments Off

Its raining outside and its kind of cold again. Even so, it seems a little too warm indoors. I don’t know why.
My teeth were aching something awful yesterday, but I’m doing better now, alhamdulillah. Its been over two weeks that I had the somewhat brutal teeth cleaning done. It’s odd that the tooth ache started two weeks later. I don’t know why.
I’ve been posting more in Urdu (on the Urdu Blog) than in English. I used to love to read Urdu novels. A long time ago. I suddenly feel the need to write more Urdu after not having done much Urdu reading/writing for so many years. I don’t know why.
I have been doing so well with watching what I eat and how much I eat which has resulted in some of my favorite pants fitting me better. I have even lost 10 lbs since last month or so. Lunch and dinner today was a disaster in that respect. Sadia made some barbecued chicken (with pakistani spices) and Aloo ki bhujia (a potato dish, pakistani style) and I lost all of my self control :( I don’t know why.

Hide and Seek

The Creator gathered all of creation and said, ‘I want to hide something
from the humans until they are ready for it. It is the realization that
they create their own reality.’ The eagle said, ‘Give it to me, I will
take it to the moon.’ The Creator said, ‘No one day they will go there and
find it.’ The salmon said, ‘I will hide it on the bottom of the ocean.’
‘No, they will go there too.’ The buffalo said, ‘I will bury it on the
great plains.’ The Creator said, ‘They will cut into the skin of the earth
and find it.’ Then Grandmother Mole, who lives in the breast of Mother
Earth, and who has no physical eyes but sees with spiritual eyes,
said: ‘Put it inside them.’ And the Creator said, ‘It is done.’

floppy disks

I don’t normally use floppy disks (the 1.44 MB, 3.5′ disks, remember them?) anymore, unless I just want to quickly copy a file or two to take with me somewhere. I did that today. I wanted to files that I was working on, a Word document and a Adobe Acrobat document. First off, I couldn’t squeeze the two files onto the diskette even after I zipped them. Then I decided I could do without the PDF file so I just copied the DOC file to the diskette. Imagine my surprise (and annoyance) when I tried using the file on another computer and the damn thing doesn’t want to save. It opens fine. I can’t copy anything nor can I save it as a different file. What a piece of crap. Now I know why I quit using the dumb floppy disks.
The list of blogs that I supposedly read regularly is increasing (see the sidebar). I will add the Muslim blogs to this list that sister Muhajabah featured on Muslim Voices series and add them here once I get around to it, inshaAllah!

London Trip

Comments Off

Our trip to London was awesome. I took one picture: Aliyah sitting on a sofa all by herself with a colorful (and huge) abstract painting in the background. It was nice and warm today again. We had a great time, alhamdulillah. Despite a nagging tooth ache I had that forced me to take drugs: Advil. I’ll need to go see the dentist if this doesn’t improve!

Monday Blues

I have a day off today, yahoooooooo! What a way to beat the Monday blues, don’t you think? Actually, I took the day off due to an appointment that we have in London this afternoon. Its a beautiful sunny day to be out and about today. And very picturesque. I think we’ll take a few pictures today. I am tired of paying expensive charges to develop pictures. What a rip off! I am looking for a nice digital camera. I think Digital Cameras are still too freakin’ expensive. I think once I find a nice digital camera and add it to my Amazon.ca wish list in hopes that some unsuspecting person out there would buy it for me, tsk, tsk!
I have almost completed the Urdu translation of MT. It’s not as easy as I thought it’d be. There are a lot of sneaky little words that have no Urdu equivalent, specially when it comes to computer/internet jargon. Either that or I just don’t know them. So I am struggling with a few of them. I am going to consult my mom, inshaAllah ;)
