The Calgary Stampede got a kick start today with a spectacular Parade. It was simply a perfect day for an outdoor activity like watching a parade with lots horses, ponies, a bull, a few sheep, some clowns, bands and lots of creative floats! There a pretty nice float created by the Muslims of Calgary and a procession of flag bearers from various muslim countries. I thought it was well done and quite cool. I’ll be posting the pictures on the Photo Blog shortly, inshaAllah!

The First of July is to Canadians as the Fourth of July is to the Americans. This was our first Canada Day in Calgary. What a spectacularly beautiful day, mashaAllah! There were some clouds but they literally shone in the bright sun. It wasn’t too hot but warm and just right! Summers are truly beautiful here (except for when it rains). There were some of the nastiest looking mosquitoes here after the rains, but not today. They’d taken the day off it seems! Alhamdulillah! The masjid was packed as most people were off work today. I missed the Canatara Park Parade as well as the ethnic food stalls that we were used to in Sarnia. We didn’t know if there were any celebrations or fireworks anywhere near here so we stayed home most of the day and enjoyed the day off.
