I just learned about Mono, an open source development technology sponsored by Novell, for developing .Net applications on Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, Windows and Unix. This technology also supports Java, Python, PHP, Object Pascal development in addition to Visual Basic.Net and C#. Definitely something to check out!
